In an interview with the DailyMail.com, Police Chief Kevin Goodman would not say if the crimes were gang related or if revenge was a motivation for the murders. One of the victims in the second shooting was questioned in the first shooting, but the chief would not say which one. Newberry County Medical Examiner Laura Kneece (left) and Newberry Police Chief Kevin Goodman explain that the four slain teenagers knew each other 'They're all within a block of each other,' Goodman said. 'Preliminarily, I would say that everybody, all the victims, are somehow connected. They knew each other and my understanding were in the same circle.' The chief said that he could not establish a motivation for the shooting or identify a suspect in the case. Goodman said that police have responded to shootings in that area before. He couldn't say if any of the fatalities were self inflicted. 'We're still putting a lot of the pieces of this case together,' he said. 'We're trying to figure out if these two shootings are in any way connected.' A forensic autopsy is scheduled for this week. The chief told the DailyMail.com that none of the young men had prior arrests in Newberry. Goodman could not say if MyKain Davis and Sonterrious Davis were related. Even 48 hours after the homicides, police had little information that they could share. Jahquindon Toland, 18, shown here fielding a ball for the Newberry Bulldogs. 'So, any and all information we need - we need. And we ask that you give us anything. Even if it doesn't seem like it's important, tell us anyway and let us decide if it's good information. The last homicide in Newberry happened in March 26 or this year and the suspect was arrested and charged in that case. Mykain Davis and Robinson were students at the Newberry High School and Toland and Sonterrious Davis had already graduated from the school. Out of an abundance of caution, the school switched to remote learning on Monday, but was back to in-person classes on Tuesday. 'I want to express my personal condolences to the families of the victims during this very difficult time,' Superintendent Alvin Pressley said. 'The Newberry community has been deeply impacted by this weekend's events, which has led to the loss of four young lives. No parent, friend, teacher is ever prepared to face a tragedy like this. I want to thank the local law enforcement agencies for their work and support and we will continue to work with them to make certain our schools are safe and secure. We have made the decision to have students return to Newberry High School tomorrow to provide them with the support from their school and district family.'
