The drama unfolded in the village of Denton, near Wheatley, at around 1pm. The alarm was raised immediately, with numerous fire crews from Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire racing to the scene, fearing the prospect of fatalities Crews from three fire stations in Oxfordshire were called out to assist yesterday where the chopper went down. Four people miraculously escaped unaided the helicopter crash in Denton, Oxfordshire, yesterday Police told how it was found on its side on a tennis court in the rear garden of a house in Denton. All four passengers on board had managed to escape the aircraft before receiving medical attention. The extent of any injuries is not known. Today, experts from the Air Accident Investigation Branch, based in Farnborough, Hampshire, were at the scene looking for clues to what caused the aircraft to drop out of the sky. The pilot managed to avoid crashing into homes in Denton and brought the chopper down on a grass tennis court at the rear of a large house. Parts of the helicopter broke off as it crashed and spread over an area of 100 yards. Fortunately, the helicopter did not catch fire on crashing, sparing the four passengers including the pilot from being burned. It is not known where the chopper had been flying to or who owns it. There are several grass airstrips in the area where it came down as well as Oxford Airport itself. No details of the passengers' identities have been released by police. Parts of the helicopter broke off as it crashed and spread over an area of 100 yards A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: 'On arrival crews were faced with a helicopter on its side in the rear garden of a domestic property. 'Its four passengers had managed to exit the aircraft and were in the care of South Central Ambulance Service paramedics. The quick-thinking of the pilot to isolate the aircraft's fuel lines and battery supplies ensured this incident didn't escalate further. 'Fire crews continued to make the scene safe so that further investigation of could be carried out.' Firefighters from Slade Park, Rewley Road and Kidlington fire stations in Oxfordshire attended the incident together with specialist units from across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said that it was not believed anyone had been badly hurt in the helicopter crash. 'We attended this incident yesterday, having been called at 1.08pm following reports of a helicopter crash in Denton, Oxfordshire. The ambulance service was also in attendance. 'Officers established that no crime had been committed. Thames Valley Police has liaised with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch who will now be taking on the investigation.'
