A man who brutally raped a woman on a New York City street then fled to Georgia has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars.

Rony Lopez Alvarez, 39, dragged the woman into a Queens alley in January 2020, then threatened to kill her before raping and robbing her.

He was found hiding in his hometown in Georgia, and brought back to New York City to face charges.

Alvarez pleaded guilty to rape in the first degree in April, and was sentenced to 10 years behind bars with five years of post-release supervision in May.
