A woman accused of organising a hit against her ex-lover allegedly confessed to organising the murder to a man she tried to get pregnant to just months after her husband died in the bungled assassination.

Biannca Edmunds, 35, is accused of ordering Glen Cassidy to murder Michael Caposiena - the estranged father of her toddler son - after he expressed a desire to continue access visits with their child.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Victoria heard claims Edmunds spilled her guts to a man she met on Tinder just weeks after her husband's death.

Cassidy had bled to death after shooting Mr Caposiena dead inside his West Meadows home, north of Melbourne, in March 2016.

His bloody body was found outside the murder house next to a cap captioned 'Fear The Reaper'.

Edmunds has pleaded not guilty to the murder.

Todd Bookham - who did almost eight years jail time for cutting his former wife's throat and stabbing her step sister in front of her six-year old son - hooked-up with Edmunds, a mother of three, just weeks after the killings.

The jury heard Edmunds had told Bookham, who had been free on parole at the time, that Cassidy had died a year earlier from cancer.

Within weeks of meeting, the pair decided to have a baby together.

'We were trying to have a child for a while. Um, she had an ectopic pregnancy, lost the - lost the first child,' Bookham said.

The jury heard Edmunds would give birth to her third child with another man in August 2017 after breaking up with Bookham.

The court heard Bookham learnt Cassidy had died in the bungled assassination within three to four months after the event.

'I confronted her with what I'd read on the internet. She pretty much said to me that if she had told me that at the start of the relationship, we probably never would have got together and she needed a father figure for her kids to be around,' Bookham told the jury.

The jury heard Edmunds rang Bookham one day telling him that detectives had raided his Bendigo home.

Upon release from custody, Edmunds allegedly confessed to Bookham that she had planned the execution of her ex-lover.

By then, Edmunds was certain police knew she had sent the text message from Cassidy's phone in which he supposedly accepted sole responsibility for his actions.

Detectives were also sure Edmunds had provided the map of Mr Caposiena's home, which was found in Cassidy's possessions at the crime scene.

'They're trying to get me on a text message ... that I sent to Glen. I got Glen to send to and they're - and they're onto that,' Edmunds allegedly told Bookham.

'And they're going to get me anyway and they even know about the map and they know all this stuff and I'm just going to hand myself in.'

Bookham told the jury Edmunds was hysterical when she grabbed a knife and put it to her own throat.

'She just said she's had enough of all this, like police harassing her and stuff like that. And she wanted to go and hand herself
