Jerome Laxale, 38, had been the member for the northern Sydney seat of Bennelong - once held by former Prime Minister John Howard - for less than two weeks before his surprise victory was hit with controversy. The 38-year-old won the seat by a slim margin of just 1600 votes following a 9.2 per cent swing against the Liberal Party - exacerbated by the retirement of popular Liberal MP and tennis legend, John Alexander, who represented the electorate for 12 years. On Thursday, a young woman told the Daily Telegraph that she was in a year-long intimate, online relationship with the father-of-three - during which time she voluntarily send him saucy naked selfies. She assumed he deleted the photos following their amicable breakup in November 2021, until an opponent from the Liberal party told her he had 'seen the pictures on Jerome's laptop'. Jerome Laxale is now dating motivational speaker and mother-of-two, Jo Taranto. He has three children with his ex wife The woman says she made a formal complaint to NSW Labor post-election, but was unsatisfied with its response - claiming the party 'threw the rule book' at her. She has called on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to personally look into the matter. When Daily Mail Australia approached Mr Laxale for comment, a NSW Labor spokesman responded: 'NSW Labor takes all complaints very seriously and treats them with the utmost confidentiality.' Mr Laxale is first-generation Australian - his parents were born in Mauritius and Reunion, two French-speaking island nations off the east coast of Madagascar. The family moved to Sydney and sent him to the prestigious $37,000-a-year King's School in North Parramatta. Jerome Laxale is the member for Bennelong - a position previously held by former Prime Minister John Howard. He is pictured with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese Prior to running for the seat of Bennelong, Mr Laxale was forced to renounce his French citizenship - proudly posting a picture of his Australian citizenship certificate on Twitter. He topped his Year 12 HSC class in two-unit French and studied a bachelor of arts at UNSW, majoring in politics and international relations, and completed an internship at Federal Parliament in Canberra. Despite a keen interest in politics, Mr Laxale scored the role of director at his family's business, Laxale's Hair and Beauty Supplies, immediately after graduating from university in 2004 - a position he held for 13 years. He also experienced a political awakening during his time with the family company, signing up for as many councils and boards as he could. He became a chairperson for the Parramatta River Catchment Group, joining the City of Ryde, as well as a board member for nonprofit business accelerator, Venture Cafe Sydney. He also joined the Labor Party in 2012, but his political career didn't properly kick off until 2017 when he was elected as Mayor of Ryde at the relatively young age of 33. Mr Laxale's ex-wife Karyn, who works in public affairs and is mum to his three kids, supported his campaign ahead of the NSW state election in 2019 - handing out flyers to businesses on the streets in Bennelong, but they announced their split soon after. Jerome Laxale has three childrenw ith his ex wife, Sarah (pictured together following the birth of their son) He frequently posts photos of his family on social media, including his twin daughters and son The dad often posts photos on social media about his children, his campaign efforts, and - on one occasion - his KFC Christmas feast. 'Every Christmas season an estimated 3.6 million Japanese families treat themselves to fried chicken from the American fast-food chain, in what has become a nationwide tradition,' he wrote on Instagram on Christmas Day in 2021, with a photo of him posing with a bucket of chicken. 'And one household in the City of Ryde. Happy KFC Christmas Everyone.' He became treasurer of Local Government NSW in 2019 - the year he met the young woman embroiled in the nude photo claims. According to the woman, they were together between October 2020 and November 2021. He is currently dating Sydney-based motivational speaker and mother-of-two, Jo Taranto, who publicly supports his campaign. According to the Daily Telegraph, the woman went to Mr Laxale's campaign in April this year as a Union member assigned to the campaign, when Liberals told her they had 'seen the pictures on Jerome's laptop.' Jerome Laxale enjoys KFC for lunch on Christmas Day (pictured on Christmas Day in 2021) The woman said she told the party about her concern after the initial incident, before she made a formal complaint NSW Labor after the election. After she raised the issue with Mr Laxale and other campaign officials, the woman claims she was taken off the campaign and blocked on the campaign's, and her former flame's, social media pages A campaign official reportedly sent a text message to the woman to say they wanted her to have all the information, and gave her Labor Party rule documents, so she could 'make an informed decision about how your would like your complaints to be dealt with'. 'They've put me in the dark and it really impacts me, not just my emotional wellbeing but my future prospects if those pictures come out,' she told the Daily Telegraph. 'I want Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to look into this personally.' Brittany Higgins, who has been a strong advocate for women in politics following allegations that she was raped inside Parliament House in Canberra, said on Twitter on Thursday that she hopes the complaint is taken seriously. 'After everything we’ve learned in 2021 - it’s time to take these complaints seriously,' she wrote. 'I hope the matter is looked into and that there are satisfactory outcomes for all involved.'
