A Michigan man who was arrested at the U.S. Capitol with a fake badge, a BB gun, body armor, high capacity magazines and unregistered ammunition has claimed the entire incident was a misunderstanding.
Jerome Felipe, 53, a retired NYPD cop who now lives in Flint, was arrested just after 5am on Friday morning after he parked his 2017 Dodge Charger outside the Capitol building near Peace Circle.
He had a fake badge with a name of a made-up agency printed upon it: 'Department of the INTERPOL' .
Felipe gave officers permission to search his vehicle saying he had 'nothing to hide'.

The officers discovered a BB gun, two ballistic vests, several high capacity magazines, and other ammunition in the car, although no real guns were found.
Investigators are still working to determine the reason Felipe was parked near the U.S. Capitol, police said.
Felipe is facing charges for Unlawful Possession of High Capacity Magazines and Unregistered Ammo.
Felipe told the Daily News that the entire incident was a misunderstanding declaring the charges of unlawful possession of high capacity magazines and unregistered ammo as 'bullsh**'.
'They asked me if they could search the vehicle, I said 'Of course, you can search the vehicle. I have nothing to hide,' Felipe, said.
'Then they said, 'Put him under arrest, he's got ammunition in the car.' So what I got ammunition in the car? You can't do nothing with it. What am I going to do? Throw it at somebody?'
