Mayor Eric Adams believes NYC is filled with 'special energy,' but it is not because of what's in the water -- supposedly it is in the ground.

Often photographed with crystal bracelets on his right wrist, Eric Adams is one of the most high-profile crystal enthusiast in politics.

In a recent interview in Politico, Adams reportedly remarked that he 'learned that New York sits on a store of rare gems and stones, and believes that as a result, "there’s a special energy that comes from here."'

Ryan Hilton, who works at Namaste Bookshop, a Metaphysical supply store in Manhattan told DailyMail.com that she had no idea Adams was into crystals and found it 'fascinating'

'Its a very helpful way to work on yourself and motivate you to try to align yourself and connect with people around you and your thoughts and feelings,' she said.

She said the crystal Adams was pictured wearing in a bracelet earlier this year in a chakra bracelet is meant to help Adams connect with his spirit guide and open up communication with the spiritual world.

Also spotted on his bracelet was a green aventurine crystal, known as a stone of the heart that is meant to take away negative feelings, as well as tiger eye stone, a protection stone meant to avoid negativity.

The mayor may have been referring to a geological foundation known as the Manhattan Schist under NYC, which formed over 450 million years ago and contains over 100 minerals, including quartz, kyanite and dumortierite.

Millions of years ago continental collisions pushed a layer of a sedimentary rocks called shale roughly nine miles into the molten core of the earth, according to the NYC Parks website.

Intense heat and pressure transformed the shale into a conglomeration of minerals, including quartz, feldspar, hornblende, and mica which turned the minerals into schist, which can be recognized by its glittering appearance.

Outcroppings of Manhattan schist can be seen across the city, including in Central Park, the basement of Grand Central Terminal and in J. Hood Wright Park in Washington Heights.

The formation is also 18 feet below the surface in Times Square to 260
