President Biden's approval rating dropped for the third straight week and veered back into below-40 percent territory, according to new Reuters-Ipsos polling.

Just 39 percent of Americans approve of the president's job in office, according to polling released June 14, while 56 percent of Americans disapprove.

Biden's approval rating has been solidly below 50 percent since August, a sign that does not bode well for Democrats heading into the midterm elections.

The latest polled surveyed 1,005 Americans online, including 443 Democrats and 364 Republicans. Decline in satisfaction largely came from Democrats - 74 percent approved of Biden last week, compared to 85 percent in August. Republican approval was largely unchanged at 11 percent.

This week's polling is three points ahead of Biden's lowest-ever according to Reuters, which came May 24 at 36 percent. But Biden has yet to surpass his predecessor's low ratings, where former President Trump touched down at 33 percent in December 2017.

Biden's approval has been weighed down by 41-year-high inflation at 8.6 percent in May and gas prices that breached $5 a gallon for the first time ever. As of Wednesday, a gallon of gas cost on average $5.01.
