Footage shows the lorry driver having to mount the verge of the road, before navigating a bumpy open field in Tintwistle, Derbyshire, closely followed by a farmer in their tractor. The lorry driver was following his sat nav and 'not looking ahead' before he looked up and realised he was facing trouble. He continued in the hope that the road would eventually widen, but instead his lorry became stuck. The farmer had to guide the Amazon lorry driver through a small gate before driving across an open field Prime stupidity! The lorry driver had to drive across a bumpy field in order to escape after getting stuck The driver was closely followed by a farmer in a red tractor as he made the unusual detour across the farmland Deborah Cooper, along with her brother, came to the rescue of the lorry driver, who was eventually set on his way shortly before midnight. She told MailOnline: 'He was trying to get to Manchester by avoiding traffic. The problem was he was following his Sat Nav and not looking ahead and it led him up our narrow country lane. 'I hadn't even ordered anything, which is why when I saw the lorry outside I was surprised. 'We were messing about for hours trying to set him free. I got my very kind and heroic brother to come up with his tractor because I knew he would get stuck. The only option was out through the bottom of the field and the gate. 'My brother has seen this many, many times with drivers in our area. We’ve had various escapades over the years because drivers just follow the Sat Nav and don't look at their surroundings. The lorry driver was 'trying to avoid traffic' and was following his sat nav when he looked up and realised he was driving along the narrow lane But he continued along the road in the hope that it would eventually widen and he could continue his journey The driver was trying to avoid traffic during a journey to Manchester, but was 'not looking up ahead of him' Ms Cooper said the lorry driver was finally on his way shortly before midnight, having been stuck for hours 'He kept going and going hoping there would be light at the end of his tunnel. He wasn’t particularly old, I did think at one point we might need to call emergency services or get someone else to drive the vehicle to the main road.' Ms Cooper said she is used to corn wagons and fire engines mistakenly driving up the road, but she had 'never seen anything that big up here before'. She normally sends the vehicles on their way before they become stuck, but it was too late in the case of the Amazon driver. And asked if Amazon had since apologised for the inconvenience, she said had not received anything.
