White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre hosted a private White House briefing in the press briefing room Thursday night for parents, parenting writers and influencers. 

She invited Adm. Rachel Levine, the U.S. assistant secretary for health, and Dr. Ashish Jha, the White House coronavirus coordinator, to discuss the ongoing baby formula shortage and COVID-19 vaccines. 

The event took place after the White House had called a 'lid' for the day - indicating reporters can leave - and participants refused to answer questions from the press. 

'I'm not answering any questions. Thank you. Nice to meet you, though,' Levine told journalists as she left the room, after posing for photos with several of the babies parents had brought along. 

Levine was asked twice about when President Joe Biden was made aware of the baby formula crisis and who briefed the president on it.
