Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday denied asking his former client Donald Trump for a pardon linked to the events of January 6 and dismissed the January 6 committee where the allegation surfaced.
Giuliani seeking a presidential pardon - along with Trump's ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows - was among the most explosive claims made during a largely jaw-dropping hearing conducted by the panel on Tuesday.
Lawmakers' star witness was 25-year-old Cassidy Hutchinson, Meadows' former assistant who was in the room for numerous key conversations surrounding the White House's strategy about the 2020 election.
In addition to testifying about Giuliani and Meadows seeking pardons, Hutchinson also painted a picture of a White House in turmoil over the ex-president and a small faction of his allies looking to overturn the election results by any means necessary on January 6 while officials and others in Trump's orbit kept them at bay.
Giuliani claimed to know people personally willing to dispute her account and compared the bipartisan committee of nine to the lawmakers who investigated Trump's 2016 campaign for alleged links to the Russian government.
