Police in Florida have released footage of the arrest of a 21-year-old man who allegedly slit his wife's throat, dragged her into a bathtub and played her favorite music while she bled to death after she burned his passport.

Officers responded to a call for a wellbeing check at Charter Pointe Apartments in Altamonte Springs, a northern suburb of Orlando, at around 9.45am on June 21, bodycam footage shows.

At the scene, officers and Seminole County Fire Department deputies found Nhu Quynh Pham, also 21, deceased in a pool of blood inside an apartment she shared with her husband, Xichen Yang.

Yang was not in the apartment at the time of the discovery.

Cops knew about the murder only after the suspect's boss at Marco Polo Pools called them and said that Yang had confessed to killing his wife because she had burned his passport and could not attend work.

He admitted to his wife's gruesome murder for a second time during his arrest, providing details of the knife he used in the stabbing, how she crawled down the hallway, and then how he dragged her into the bathtub.

Yang was handcuffed and taken into custody, where he admitted to officers to having drowned his wife down in the bathwater for at least 10 minutes, as he 'played her favorite music,' and 'held her hand' as she was dying
