In a resignation letter, seen by the Sun, Chris Pincher admitted he had 'embarrassed himself and other people', after drinking too much at the Tory private members club in London. According to the Sun, the letter said: 'Last night I drank far too much. Chris Pincher, the Conservative Party deputy chief whip, has quit tonight after he allegedly groped two men while drunk last night 'I want to assure you that you will continue to have my full support from the back benches, and I wish you all the best as you deal with aftershocks of Covid and the challenges of international inflation. 'It has been the honour of my life to have served in Her Majesty's Government.' The newspaper reports that Mr Pincher was drinking at the Tory Party private members club - the Carlton Club - in Piccadilly when he is said to have assaulted two fellow guests. It marks the second time Mr Pincher has been forced to quit the whips office after he was accused of making a pass at former Olympic rower and Conservative activist Alex Story who was 26 at the time. He is alleged to have tried to untuck the shirt of Mr Story after persuading him to come back to his London home, as well as massaging his neck while saying: 'You will go far in the Conservative Party.' Mr Story claims that at one point Mr Pincher left the room, saying 'let me just slip into something more comfortable', before returning in a bathrobe 'like a pound shop Harvey Weinstein.' He was cleared of wrongdoing by a Conservative party probe. Share or comment on this article: All rights reserved for this news site (dailymail) and under his responsibility
