A cyclist has appeared in court after being charged over the death of a retired teacher, who was knocked down and killed in a road junction collision last year.
Jane Stone, 79, was crossing the road during an evening walk when she was hit by a cyclist. Stewart McGinn, 29, is accused of causing bodily harm by wanton or furious driving while being in charge of a bicycle.
The retired teacher was taken to hospital following the collision at the junction of Wonastow Road and Somerset Road in Monmouth, Gwent, on June 7, 2021.
Ms Stone sadly died of serious head injuries four days later on Friday, June 11.
McGinn, of Troy Way, appeared before Newport Magistrates' Court.
No plea was entered as the allegation, which comes under the 1861 Offences Against the Person
