The Republican challenging Ilhan Omar for her House seat for Minnesota's 5th congressional district said that the progressive representative is 'out of touch' with her constituents.

The comments come after Omar was booed off stage during a Somalian concert in Minneapolis over the weekend where the Somali-American representative was told to 'get the f*** out of here'.

Cecily Davis told Fox News on Tuesday morning that she is not surprised the audience decided to boo Omar, claiming that she is 'very unpopular' in her community and people are 'ready for change'.

The district Omar represents includes the entire city of Minneapolis, which is solidly blue – going 70 percent for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

Minnesota's primary elections are on August 9, but it is very likely that Davis will clinch the Republican nomination and Omar her Democratic race. If this is the case, the two will go head-to-head in the November 2022 midterms.

Davis is highly unlikely to sway the district red, but her attacks claim that citizens aren't happy with Omar either – further proven by the boos she received on Saturday.

'Her policies are very unpopular to those in her own community,' Davis said to Fox. 'I am not shocked that they booed her. She's very unpopular among the people of Somalia and Minneapolis.'

'You know what?' the GOP candidate continued. 'They've decided that they are no longer going to operate as a monolith. They recognize that she does not represent them, and they are ready for change. They are looking for a champion who actually represents their conservative values here in congressional district five.'

Omar smiled through a chorus of boos and jeers at a Somali music festival in her home state of Minnesota over Independence Day weekend.

The squad member made an appearance at a concert featuring Somali singer Soldaan Seraar at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Saturday night, but a viral video shows that much of the crowd was not happy to see her.

Some videos show people chanting 'get out!' at the congresswoman and telling her to 'get the f*** out of here.'

It is not immediately clear what prompted the boos, but one report said that some people suggest it was related to the Somali-American congresswoman's support for abortion and LGBTQ
