Brexten Green's body was found in Grand Lake, where he was with friends. His school paid tribute to the 20-year-old athlete, saying he was 'always there for his teammates.' Authorities received a call around 6.30pm about a man not resurfacing after cliff diving in the Dripping Springs area of Grand Lake, KFOR reported. Green's body was later found 31 feet below the surface. Dripping Springs is only 36 feet deep according to the Oklahoma Wildlife Department. Grand Lake does allow cliff diving at Dripping Springs, according to Candlewyck Cove Resort. 'Dripping springs is where the Grand Lake boaters come to jump from the bluff or just to watch the other adventurist visitors do it,' reads the resort's website. 'On the big weekends you can find hundreds of boats full of fun loving folks rafted up here. Come see where the action is in the number one party cove.' Green's cause of death is currently unknown. According to the young man's obituary, he went cliff diving with friends, but once 'going under the water, he never resurfaced.' The Cashion, Oklahoma, native was honored by his Emporia State football team on Saturday, who said he was a 'great teammate who cared so much about this football program.' 'It showed in his competitive spirit, his work ethic and his willingness to be there for his teammates. He will always be a part of our Hornet football family,' football coach Garin Higgins said in a statement on Saturday. 'He was committed to being the best player he could be and would have developed into a great player for us because of those characteristics.' The five-foot-10 college freshmen was preparing for his second year on the team after redshirting last season and had been labeled the District A-3 Player of the Year. He was known as a 'momma's boy,' who loved to hunt, and had a personality that was 'larger than life,' his obituary said. 'He added joy, humor, and friendship to everyone he encountered, whether you knew him 5 minutes or your entire life,' it read. The young athlete was also known for driving kids to youth group, dropping off lower classmen at home after practice, and inviting all his friends on hunting trips. 'He was always there for anyone in need. Whether it was a flat tire, friend in need, or just hanging it out, Brexten was there and normally the center of attention. People were just drawn to him naturally and wanted to be around him. His smile and presence could brighten any room he entered,' his obituary read. 'His legacy will continue to live through all of us,' it continued. 'To the angel that flies highest above them all, Brex, we will miss you for the rest of our lives. We long for the day when we will get to see you again.' His sister Masyn also wrote on Facebook: 'I miss you, bubba.' 'His last day on earth was spent doing one of the many things he loved – enjoying friends. He was at Grand Lake and decided to go jump off the cliffs – in true Brexten fashion he was living to the fullest,' reads the obituary.
