The provider issued a statement on Wednesday listing 33 suburbs where residents should pare back their water use, of them in the city's greater west. These include Caddens, Cambridge Gardens, Cambridge Park, Castlereagh, Claremont Meadows, Colyton, Cranebrook, Dunheved, Emu Heights, Emu Plains, Erskine Park, Glenmore Park, Jamisontown, Jordan Springs. Sydney Water has issued warnings to residents in 33 suburbs impacted by the recent floods to limit their water usage as filtration systems struggle (pictured, flooded home in Camden, NSW) Also Kingswood, Kingswood Park, Lemongrove, Leonay, Llandilo, Londonderry, Mt. Pleasant, North St. Marys, Orchard Hills, Oxley Park, Penrith, Quarry Hill, Regentville, Ropes Crossing, South Penrith, St. Clair, St. Marys, Werrington, Werrington County and Werrington Downs. 'Due to the heavy rain and floods over the past week, high volumes of leaves, dirt and other debris have been swept into dams.' 'Our filtration systems are working harder than usual to filter and clean water to make it safe for drinking, and it’s more difficult to meet the usual demand,' they added. Sydney Water is asking everyone in these areas to avoid non-essential water use right now. 'Things you can do to conserve water include: reduce your use of washing machines and dishwashers (and only use with a full load), minimise cleaning of cars, driveways and other outdoor areas following flood impact and take shorter showers.' 'Please be assured that the water produced by the plant is safe to drink, and Sydney Water is monitoring water quality around the clock.' For updates, go to the Sydney Water website.
