A driver who crashed into a pram and killed an 18-day-old baby while using his phone has had his prison sentence increased to 10 years.
James Davis, 35, crashed into baby Ciaran Leigh Morris on High Street in Brownhills, near Walsall, and then leapt out of his white BMW 1 Series 116d.
He drove into a Ford B-Max and then mounted the pavement on the opposite side of the road, before crashing into the infant on Easter Sunday last year.
Davis was jailed for six-and-a-half years at Wolverhampton Crown Court in April for causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving while uninsured.
That sentence, though, was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Attorney General’s Office under the 'unduly lenient' sentence scheme.
Judges at the court today increased his sentence to 10 years at a hearing Davis attended by video link from HMP Birmingham.

He told the court: 'Not only did (Davis) not have insurance, the car itself had not been registered, it was a car that should not have been on the road.'

Mr Glasgow said Davis was driving at 67mph around 16.5 seconds before the fatal crash. He slowed down to 33mph as he approached a roundabout.
Davis then veered from his side of the road into the opposite lane and into the path of an oncoming car.
