An 11-year-old girl who was on life support for four days after an ATV struck her and killed her best friend in Apple Valley, California, died on Wednesday morning.
Christina 'Tina' Bird, who was celebrating the Fourth of July weekend with her best friend Jacob Martinez, 12, was pronounced dead at 8:50am at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, her uncle Ernie Nunez confirmed on Facebook.
Police said the duo was riding on the same ATV at a camp ground on July 2 when another ATV crashed into them, mangling them and refusing to stop and help as the driver fled the scene, KTLA reported.
On the GoFundMe page Nunez began for Christina's mother, Felica Nunez, he wrote: 'The doctors did their final tests today to see if there is any life in Tina. The results were negative.'
'Tina has grown her pair of wings to join her Grandma and Grandpa in Heaven where she is pain free.'
