Tucker Carlson was caught in a fiery exchange with Ben Smith after the popular Fox News host was confronted over mass shooters using his rhetoric on Thursday. 

The 20-minute interview between the two media hounds that took place during the pre-launch event for Smith's new media company, Semafor, appeared to get off to a rocky start.

The former BuzzFeed founder didn't appear amused when Carlson said jokingly not to 'steamroll' him.

Within minutes, the former media writer for the New York Times and CEO for BuzzFeed, ripped into the political pundit asking his views on white supremacy, and whether he believes white people are superior to other races. 

'Do you think white people have more of a claim on America than other people of races do? ' Smith asked. 

Carlson seemed entertained, and responded: 'No, of course not.'

'I think there are a lot of criticisms you can level at me. I think sometimes I overstate the case, I get pissed, I get nasty,' Carlson said.

He admitted that the majority of people he is mad at are 'well-educated white liberals' not 'black people,' and made it known with the example that a '38-year-old female white lawyer, who has a barren personal life,' is not someone he cares for.

Defending himself from the closet of his Manhattan high rise, the popular news host turned as red as some of the garments that were hanging in his wardrobe.

'This is why you are considered, correctly, a propagandist and not a journalist,' he quipped at Smith. 

He continued: ' Because I just explained in detail with total sincerity what I believe. You ignored it and invoked mass shooters. So that's not what –' Carlson responded, attacking Smith.
