Thursday 7 July 2022 11:39 PM Tucker Carlson Rages After Ben Smith Confronts Him Over Mass Shooters Using His ... trends now Tucker Carlson was caught in a fiery exchange with Ben Smith after the popular Fox News host was confronted over mass shooters using his rhetoric on Thursday. The 20-minute interview between the two media hounds that took place during the pre-launch event for Smith's new media company, Semafor, appeared to get off to a rocky start. The former BuzzFeed founder didn't appear amused when Carlson said jokingly not to 'steamroll' him. Within minutes, the former media writer for the New York Times and CEO for BuzzFeed, ripped into the political pundit asking his views on white supremacy, and whether he believes white people are superior to other races. 'Do you think white people have more of a claim on America than other people of races do? ' Smith asked. Carlson seemed entertained, and responded: 'No, of course not.' 'I think there are a lot of criticisms you can level at me. I think sometimes I overstate the case, I get pissed, I get nasty,' Carlson said. He admitted that the majority of people he is mad at are 'well-educated white liberals' not 'black people,' and made it known with the example that a '38-year-old female white lawyer, who has a barren personal life,' is not someone he cares for. Defending himself from the closet of his Manhattan high rise, the popular news host turned as red as some of the garments that were hanging in his wardrobe. 'This is why you are considered, correctly, a propagandist and not a journalist,' he quipped at Smith. He continued: ' Because I just explained in detail with total sincerity what I believe. You ignored it and invoked mass shooters. So that's not what –' Carlson responded, attacking Smith. So that's not what –' Carlson responded, attacking Smith The 20-minute interview between the two media hounds that took place during the pre-launch event for Smith's new media company, Semafor, appeared to get off to a rocky start Smith proceeded to ask about immigration, race relations, demographic changes in the American electorate, and his rhetoric on 'Replacement Theory The 18-year-old gunman, who killed 10 Black people in a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, had reportedly embraced the rhetoric. The Fox News host had mentioned replacement theories in more than 400 episodes of his show since 2016 based on a New York Times analysis, The Hill reported. The racist ideology suggests white people are being deliberately replaced by minorities. After the massacre, Carlson reportedly distanced himself from the ideology and said on his May 17 show, 'we're still not sure exactly what it is,' Mediaite reported. The Buffalo shooter was said to have been inspired by the racist conspiracy, which has been embraced by rightwing politicians in the US and Europe – as well as Fox News 'The language of replacement theory which you popularized. The language of replacement theory is specifically the language used by Neo-Nazis to recruit people to their cause,' he said. ' It has been obviously — I'm not suggesting some straight line between words and actions — but it is a phrase that has been used by mass shooters. I wonder if you don't have any regret popularizing that?' Some of the attendees at the pre-launch event, Washington Post tech columnist Taylor Lorenz, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Wesley Lowery, and Politico co-founder John Harris, reports said.
