An engineer will appear in court today accused of killing a 17-year-old boy and stabbing four other people while tubing on Apple River in Wisconsin.
Nicolae Miu, 52, was reportedly behaving 'strangely' towards a group of young boys before being confronted by Rhyley Mattison, 24, and a group of her friends.
Engineer Miu launched his frenzied knife attack and stabbed Rhyley and three of her friends, leaving them in a critical condition.
They approached him after spotting him chatting to a group of teenagers who looked 'uncomfortable', as Miu reportedly asked them for 'young girls' numbers.
He also attacked a 17-year-old boy, from Stillwater, Minnesota, who was pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital.
St Croix Sheriff’s department confirmed that Miu, from Prior Lake, Minnesota, will appear in court today, but he has not been formally charged.
Rhyley, from Minnesota, confirmed that three of her friends, 20, 22, and 22, were also taken to hospital - with one of them being slashed 'from the bellybutton up'.
Speaking to DailyMail.com Rhyley said: ‘I was with some friends tubing down the river, when a couple of them said that we needed to stop because there was a group of kids who looked uncomfortable.
‘There was an older man with them, so we stopped our tubes. The guys went over to see what was going on and then a few of my girlfriends and I also went over.
