Met Police open fire and shoot man 'carrying a gun' before evacuating roads in south-east London Officers responded to reports of man with firearm in Creek Road, Greenwich Man was shot by police during the incident and has been taken to hospital  Police say they do not believe the incident is terror related 

The police have shot a man believed to be carrying a gun before evacuating roads in south-east London.  

Officers responded to multiple 999 reports of a man with a firearm in Creek Road, Greenwich, at just after 2.30pm on Friday.

The Metropolitan Police said: 'Firearms officers attended the scene. The man was located. A police firearm was discharged and the man sustained a gunshot injury.

Gemma Daly, 31, from Whitstable, but staying in Greenwich, said she heard some shouting and then 'a big bang' which she believes was a gunshot.

She said she heard police sirens straight away, adding that the emergency services then started arriving.
