The suspicious package contained five white cylinders that were labeled Bomb 1 and 2 and was found bundled together behind a bench at the 5th Street and Jefferson Street bus stop on Friday morning. The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) said the devices appear to be a pipe with wires protruding from it, WHAS 11 reported. It is unknown who discovered the bombs or who placed them at the bus stop. Several streets have been shutdown as the LMPD's bomb squad investigate the incident. Those confided within Jefferson between Third and Sixth Streets are asked to shelter in place. Geared-up police and a SWAT team members are investigating the surrounding area for 'any other potential threats.' Video footage from WLKY's Mark Vanderhoff shows the bomb squad released a robot from an armored vehicle and it can be seen rolling toward the suspected bombs. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are also reportedly looking inside trash cans in the surrounding areas to see if there are more potential explosives around. An officer was also seen wearing a 'blast suit' as he collected the bucket the robot put the suspected bombs in. The bus stop is located in a hot spot and is near City Hall and Metro Hall, according to WLKY. The LMPD has also rescheduled its Recruits Graduation that was supposed to take place at Metro Hall 'out of an abundance of caution.' This is a developing story, check back for updates.
