Clear skies and sunshine are on the way, with above-average temperatures forecast for parts of Australia - while wet and cold conditions strike other parts of the country.

Temperatures will be five to 10 degrees above average in Western Australia on Monday and reach an unseasonably warm 27C in southeast Queensland on Friday.

The Sunshine State and NSW will enjoy primarily dry conditions with showers easing throughout both states midweek and both capital cities enjoying the sunshine.

Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Jonathan How warned the warm conditions would be short-lived in Western Australia.
