A common medicine which many Aussies rely on in their daily lives has vanished from shelves amid a major global supply shortage for an ingredient integral to its recipe. 

The popular product Gaviscon, which helps with heartburn and indigestion, has recently been hard to find on shelves in chemists and supermarkets Woolworths and Coles.
