A man who bit a police dog on the head and assaulted a police officer during an arrest has been jailed for eight months.

Matthew Boulter, 34, from, Grimsby, was arrested on the evening of Sunday 14 August after police received reports of him being seen assaulting three people and causing criminal damage outside a venue in Bethlehem Street, Grimsby.

Grimsby Magistrates' Court heard that Boulter was being arrested for assault charges punched and kicked some fencing towards the Humberside police officer, causing them minor injuries.

He then bit police dog Xander on the head and grabbed his collar
