After 20 years as a Navy SEAL, rising from the rank of enlisted sniper to Lieutenant Commander leading special forces task units, Jack Carr stepped into the unknown and left his glittering military career behind.

It was the job he had set his heart on as a wide-eyed seven-year-old boy reading books about his frogmen heroes - and then perfected as a man to become one of the world’s most lethal warriors.

He ruthlessly took the lives of America’s enemies in dusty and bloody battlefields across the world to make this country a safer place to live - risking his own countless times.

LCDR Carr had more than completed his patriotic duty and he turned to another more pressing responsibility.

‘My family needed me, so I got out’, he says.

Jack’s middle child, a son, had been born with a rare genetic mutation - only the 13th person in the world - and would need expensive care for his mental and physical issues for his entire life.

In one of his most daunting missions, it was now up to Jack to raise that money as well as provide for the rest of his family.

He turned to his second passion of books and writing, the very reason he was inspired to become a Navy SEAL.

Failure was simply not an option, but it turned out a stroke of luck was.

Two months before the debut of his first novel, The Terminal List, in March 2018, Jack received a call from an old SEAL buddy, Jared Shaw.

‘He said “do you remember what you did for me?” and I replied that I did not. He reminded me that I had introduced him to potential future employers when he was getting out of the SEALs. He said “you are the only person who did that and I wanted to thank you. I’d like to give a copy of your book to a friend of mine”. That friend turned out to be Chris Pratt which was fairly convenient because Chris is the actor I had wanted to play the lead role!’

Chris read the book and optioned it immediately. The rest is history. In its first full week of ratings, the series shot to No.2 on the list of America’s most streamed shows, racking up 1.6 billion minutes.

It stars Chris as LCDR James Reece (who bears more than a passing resemblance to another certain LCDR), a Navy SEAL on a bloody revenge mission. He brings ruthlessly efficient special forces killings and explosions to the heart of America.

The woke critics, however, were less than happy than the viewers with the show. They appeared triggered by much of its content.

‘We didn’t mention right or left, Republican or Democrat so maybe they didn’t actually watch it? They took a negative view of the American flag, country music and beer, which happen to be things that Americans like! They didn’t say it was a bad show though. It just seems to be symptomatic of a wider problem in society these days.’

Sadly for the critics, it looks like the former Navy Seal is about to win another battle in this particular culture war. Chris Pratt and Amazon are this
