Tiffani Scholten was found unresponsive at a home in Coomera, Queensland on April 18 this year, as police continue investigations into her death. Police were called to a Bellagio Crescent home around 8pm to attend to the young girl. After emergency services had arrived on scene, she was declared dead. It is understood Tiffani suffered from a number of health conditions, including the extremely rare Rett Syndrome, which affects how the brain develops. The family had been living in the quiet neighbourhood for several years before police were called to the home on Easter Monday, 2022, where Tiffani could not be saved Some children who are diagnosed with Rett Syndrome can live relatively normal lives, while others are completely debilitated by the condition. Parents of the young girl had been told she may not live past four years of age, but she had managed to overcome the illness and had even started school. The family had been living in the quiet neighbourhood for several years before police were called to the home on Easter Monday where Tiffani could not be saved. Investigations into the circumstances and cause of her death are still ongoing. Gold Coast District’s Child Protection and Investigation Unit are investigating with assistance from the Crime and Intelligence Command’s Child Trauma Taskforce.
