The selection of the jury for the trial of Mexican actor Pablo Lyle started at a Miami courthouse Tuesday.
Lyle, 35, is accused of manslaughter for punching Juan Ricardo Hernández Sr., 63, during a road-rage altercation in Miami on March 31, 2019. Hernández Sr., a native of Cuba, died at a local hospital four days later.
At least 100 of the 250 prospective jurors were interviewed by state prosecutors and the actor’s defense team at Miami-Dade County Courthouse, according to Univision.
However, 35 potential jurors were ruled out from forming part of the criminal jury after they said they were aware who Lyle was or had heard of the case.
NBC 6 reported that one person told judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez that members of the pool held conversations about the case outside the courtroom.
