Four people were also seriously injured when the car, thought to be a red Ford Fiesta, slammed into the crowd on Saturday night. The car, estimated to be travelling at up to 70mph, careered into the group who met on the Flixborough Industrial Estate, in Scunthorpe, leaving behind a trail of ‘blood and debris’. While emergency services rushed to the scene, horrified onlookers were forced to ‘lift the car off a girl’ who was trapped under the wreckage. A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The delivery driver said: ‘I said to my friend when we got there “this is an accident waiting to happen, someone is going to get hurt or run over. ‘I heard a big massive bang, turned around and saw the Golf in front of the BMW. We went over, and saw the Fiesta over in the distance. ‘I saw debris all over the road, blood, people laying on the floor, screaming and shouting. ‘Everyone started scrambling, calling for emergency services. ‘It is just a horrific scene. All victims, including the critically injured patient and four people who were seriously hurt, are receiving medical assistance ‘We were there not even 20 minutes and that happened. They [cars] were doing quick [race-style] launches. They got to at least 60, 70mph. ‘There were people flying up and down – it is ridiculous.’ In shocking footage of the crash, one bystander was filmed clinging onto the bonnet of the red car as it careered into the crowd. A pushchair was also seen standing among the wreckage in the aftermath. A witness who visited the crash site on Sunday morning told The Mirror there was 'blood and debris everywhere.' 'It's not nice to see at all,' the individual said of the scene. 'It must have been a really bad accident though as the tyre markings go on for about 100m.' Another person who attended the meet said: 'It's a really sad day for Scunthorpe.' The scene was on Sunday cordoned off for a painstaking forensic examination as officers from Humberside Police probed the cause of the collision. Inspector John Rickells said several cars had been taking part in the meet when the crash happened. He said in a statement: ‘As part of our investigations, a 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. 'At this time our investigations are at a really early stage, and we will release more information when we are able to do so.’ Officers are now appealing for dashcam or mobile phone footage in order to establish what happened during the incident. Authorities have launched a multi-agency investigation into the incident and are working to 'establish the circumstances' of the crash. A witness who visited the crash site on Sunday said there is 'blood and debris everywhere' 'This is a multi-agency major incident response and we are working with our emergency service colleagues to provide emergency first aid and establish the circumstances of the incident,' Inspector Rickells added. 'We are aware that a number of people left the scene prior to emergency services arriving, and they may have witnessed what happened,' he said. 'We would ask that anyone who may have mobile phone /dashcam footage of the vehicles involved both prior to and at the time of the collision to contact us so that we can establish exactly how the incident happened.' He added: 'At this time our investigations are at a really early stage, and we will release more information when we are able to do so.'
