Workers at the Melbourne Royal Show told a woman they would collect her dropped mobile phone for her - before she was hit by a rollercoaster as she went to retrieve it herself, investigators have been told.
Shylah Rodden, 26, remains in intensive care after being struck by the Rebel Coaster at the Melbourne Royal Show on Sunday.
In a fresh twist, it has been claimed that she entered a fenced-off area to collect her mobile phone moments before she was critically injured.
Staff say the ride was regularly stopped so workers could collect dropped keys, phones and wallets from the base of the rollercoaster.
One worker even claimed to investigators that Ms Rodden was told she would only have to wait 20 minutes to get her phone back.
It is still unknown how Ms Rodden managed to get on to the rollercoaster tracks, which are surrounded by an almost two-metre tall fence.
There appears to be no security cameras along the fence line.
