House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has finally released the full text of the bill to ban lawmakers from trading stocks. 

The text comes after months of pressure from the public as a number of reports revealed hundreds of lawmakers regularly trade stocks directly related to their work in Congress. It could come to a vote as soon as this week. 

The 26-page-long 'Combatting Financial Conflicts of Interest in Government Act' would ban not only members of Congress but their spouses and other government officials, including Supreme Court justices, from owning or trading stocks. 

The bill would also strengthen penalties for breaking conflicts-of-interest laws and strengthen other transparency provisions, bringing the current fee for late disclosures up from $200 to $1,000.
