Soggy and cold weather to dampen the long weekend for millions - so what's the weather going to be like where you are? Rain and chilly temperatures are forecast for Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra Rain is set to ease by Monday for Labour Day but temperatures will remain low NSW, South Australia, the ACT and Queensland will have a day off on Monday  WA and the Northern Territory will also be hit with storms over the weekend

Australians on the east coast are in for a soggy and cool start to the Labour Day long weekend with plenty of rain on the forecast.  

Those living in NSW, South Australia, Queensland and the ACT have welcomed a three-day weekend but the miserable weather may dampen the plans of many.

Sydney and Brisbane will be drenched with rain over Saturday and Sunday, while Canberra will also have a wet Sunday.

Fortunately the wet conditions are expected to pass by Monday in time for the public holiday, but colder than average temperatures have been forecast for the eastern capital cities.

Sydney will reach a top of just 18C on Saturday and Sunday, with up to 13mm of rain falling across both days.

By Monday the rain will have eased with the harbour city in for a dry and mostly sunny day with tops of 20C, before the rain returns on Wednesday.

Strong wind warnings have been issued and hazardous surf is likely for NSW's Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast and Illawarra Coast.

Brisbane may see some showers on Saturday and will be warm with tops of 24C.

But come Sunday the Queensland capital is set to see between 4 and 10mm of rain, with tops of just 19C.

The sun will come out again on Monday in time for the public holiday, with a low of 12C and top of 23C.

Canberra will see a wet start to the weekend, with a high chance of showers and a top of 15 for Saturday, with rain to ease Sunday and temperatures increasing to a
