A sexual abuse victim who was groomed and abused by her stepfather has spoken out about how she was labelled 'the girl who slept with her stepdad'.
Kyra Ivey's attacker Scott Taylor was last year at Truro Crown Court jailed for six years and placed on the sex offenders' register after pleading guilty to sexual activity with a family member.
Kyra, now 20, is entitled to lifelong anonymity but has bravely waived her right to try to give other victims of sexual abuse the strength to come forward and speak out.
Speaking to CornwallLive, Kyra, who previously lived in the Truro and St Agnes area but who has since moved, described how Taylor, now in his late 30s, was in an on/off relationship with her mother and moved into the family home when she was six or seven.

Kyra said her baby boy, which she had with her partner James has changed her life. She said she wants to show other abuse victims that they can also come forward and report what has happened to them
Kyra says Taylor controlled her throughout her childhood and subjected her to violence including a baseball bat attack when she was 14. He said that if she ever told her mother he'd just say she fell off her horse.
Kyra said: 'When I was 16 I was living with him after he and my mum had broken up. It all came out after he beat me badly. He's allowed out next year and I'm more worried for my son and my partner.
'It (sex) came to the point when I consented, but not because I wanted it, but because it was easier to say yes than get pinned down. I was tied up, beaten and filmed.
'My mum never suspected anything. He was never like this with her. They were a happy family and they had a child together. We were always close and that's where the grooming comes in. My mum feels a lot of guilt but it's very difficult for her.
'I lost my virginity to him and I was so young I didn't know any different. I thought it was normal and what relationships were meant to be like. I remember going into school and thinking it was odd my friends weren't having sex but as I got older I realised things weren't right.
