The US Inspector General's Office slammed a general for 'discrediting' and bringing 'negative publicity' to the military on Twitter as he blasted Tucker Carlson and online trolls criticizing women in the army.
The Army was investigating Major Gen. Patrick Donahoe for 'improper use of social media, toxic and counterproductive leadership, and failing to treat a subordinate with dignity and respect,' according to a report obtained by Task & Purpose.
The report notes that Donahoe ultimately put unnecessary attention on the military over his spats with Carlson and Marine veteran and COVID-vaccine skeptic Josiah Lippincott.
The investigators also took issue with the general's public engagement with a female junior officer who was being harassed on Twitter, saying it was against the rules for him to speak to her about matters 'unrelated' to training.
The Inspector General said that while Donahoe's actions were 'potentially admirable,' they ultimately shamed the military.
'His post brought a measurable amount of negative publicity to the Army, enough that [the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs] warned [the Secretary of the Army] of the fallout,' the report read.

Donahoe had slammed Carlson for negative comments about women in the Army, leading to other officials weighing in against the Fox host. The spat became highly publicized, with Carlson (above) dedicating an entire segment on Donahoe and his Twitter activity
Donahoe also picked a fight with Marine veteran Josiah Lippincott (right) over the military's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Donahoe admitted he acted unprofessionally, with Lippincott speaking with Fox's Laura Ingraham, bringing more negative publicity to the military
Although he was expected to retire soon, Donahoe has been temporarily reassigned, with the status of his retirement currently unknown
According to the investigation, the primary complaints against Donahoe surfaced last year as the general, who had a massed more than 23,000 followers on Twitter, called out an opinion by Carlson about women in the military.
In March 2021, the Fox host had criticized the military of becoming 'more feminine' after the army enacted new policies to make it easier for women to serve.
Donahoe, whose Twitter page is now private, shared a video of him conducting a re-enlistment ceremony for a female staff sergeant, writing that Carlson 'couldn't be more wrong.'
The generals comments led to a flurry of other high ranking officers criticizing Carlson, with Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston calling Carlson 'divisive.'
Carlson went on to dedicate a segment of his show in July of that year to Donahoe's Twitter
