Dr. Mehmet Oz claimed that he is not concerned with John Fetterman's ability to serve as Senator because of his stroke but is focused on the Democrat's lack of transparency in refusing to release his medical records.

'I think people with disabilities can serve and they should serve. I would never hold that against anybody,' Oz said in a sit-down interview with NBC News. 'The issue for me is the voters of Pennsylvania deserve transparency.'

Oz also gave a clearer picture on his abortion stance after successfully avoiding being forced to answer on the matter for much of his campaign.

He reiterated that he opposes abortion except in the case of rape, incest or risk to the life of the mother. However, Oz insinuated he would not back Sen. Lindsey Graham's abortion bill, which bans the procedure after 15 weeks without exception for rape or incest.

'I don't want any federal rules limiting what states do with abortion,' he said, adding that he was speaking broadly. 'It should be up to the states.'

The celebrity heart surgeon also said he backs President Biden's move to pardon federal marijuana possession offenses.

'Going to jail for marijuana is not a wise move for the country. I think folks who have used marijuana and that's the only reason they're in jail should not have those criminal — those rulings — held against them,' Oz said, calling the Biden decision a 'rational move.'

And in a tack to the center in the waning days of the campaign, Oz said he opposes federal mandatory minimum sentencing.

'I really think judges should be empowered to make the difficult decisions, and they generally do it well,' Oz said. 'When we tie their hands by making laws at the federal level, it hinders their ability to do what needs to be done.'

Fetterman days ago in an interview with NBC supported federal mandatory minimums for cases involving fentanyl
