White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre hurled compliments at Pennsylvania Democratic Senate hopeful John Fetterman from the podium Wednesday, after his painful performance in Tuesday night's debate against Republican Dr. Oz.

'The president has found him to be impressive, incredibly bright and talented person, who's just as capable, as always, to carry out his office, the duties of his office,' Jean-Pierre said at Wednesday afternoon's press briefing.

Fetterman's after-effects from the stroke he suffered in May were on full display during his hour-long Harrisburg face-off with Oz, as he mangled responses and missed words, with even some Democrats and liberal media figures expressing concern.

Jean-Pierre said she wasn't able to confirm whether or not Biden watched any of the back-and-forth.

'So I actually tried to get an answer for you, went to the Oval, but the president has had a really busy morning, as you all know, with the Israeli president he's hosting who was in town. So I was not able to get an answer on that, if he was able to watch the debate last night,' the press secretary said.

Biden did have back-to-back events Wednesday - an announcement on 'junk fees,' and meetings with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and U.S. military leaders - but Fetterman's questionable performance dominated the political news.
