A majority of Americans are in favor of implementing voter ID policies, a new poll suggests exactly one week out from Election Day.

At least three quarters of white, black, Hispanic and Asian Americans agreed that some form of identification should be required to cast a ballot, according to the survey by CRC Research and the 85 Fund.

The poll's results were exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.

Enhancing election security will also be an issue on the ballot in eight states on November 8. Those measures include voter ID requirements in Nebraska and Arizona.

As of now, 21 states require photo identification to vote in person, and 14 require at least a non-photo form of ID.

Opponents of stricter voter identification measures argue that certain requirements, like a government-issued ID or requiring it to have proof of address, present an undue burden to citizens and disproportionately disenfranchises communities of color and low-income Americans.

Its supporters say that it's a reasonable step toward boosting voter confidence in American elections, which other surveys have shown to be at record lows.

According to Tuesday's poll, requiring photo ID to vote is supported by 75 percent of black Americans, 81 percent of Hispanic Americans and 88 percent of voters who identified as Asian American.

For the survey, 1,600 likely voters were polled between October 20 and 23
