Jewish staff members at Kanye West's Donda Academy have quit in droves since the rapper began his anti-Semitic tirade last month, his friend has confirmed.

Poet Malik Yusef, who has previously identified himself as an 'administrator' at the school, told the New York Post how 'staff members of the Jewish faith were lost' in the weeks since the 45-year-old rapper first threatened to go to war with the Jewish people.

The confirmation comes amid reports that the $15,000-a-year school no longer has enough teachers to operate. It remains unclear whether all of the staff have quit after the school abruptly closed last week only to reopen a few hours later.

'I know we had a couple people of the Jewish faith [who] basically recused or resigned in light of public pressure from, I am sure, friends and family,' Yusef said.

'You got to go with your team when your family is saying it's not possible to stay there,' he added.

Among the staff members who are said to have left in recent weeks is Tamar Andrews, a highly-regarded education consultant who works as the director of early childhood education at Temple Isaiah and the American Jewish University.

Her last day was on October 11, according to the Hollywood Reporter, just two days after West tweeted he was planning to go 'death con three on the Jewish people.

'Dr. Andrews immediately resigned from Donda Academy following Ye West's tweet,' Allison Samek, president of Temple Isaiah of Los Angeles, told THR noting that Andrews 'felt she could no longer support the organization.'

Meanwhile, Brianne Campbell's LinkedIn profile shows she stopped working at the school last month as well. She was the principal and executive director.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Campbell for comment.

Yusef slammed Kanye's remarks in speaking with the Post — though he still expressed his hopes that the Donda Academy could survive.

'What Kanye said was ridiculous,' Yusef said, noting: 'Critical thinking is what Donda is about, and I don't think Kanye applied critical thinking.'

He said he hopes he can get Kanye 'back on track, saying: 'I would say he is doing his best to figure out life as he takes it in big gulps.'

In the meantime, though, he said he has faith the school will succeed.

'I believe [Donda] comes back better and stronger,' he said. 'It is the legacy of [West's] mother.'

Donda West was the chair of the Chicago State University Department of English who was widely regarded for her embrace of education.

'Dr. West would take a step back,' Yusef said. 'She would not want the school shut down.'

But it may be too late to save the private Christian academy,
