President Joe Biden will say the 'assault on democracy' is not over in a speech to Americans on Wednesday night in the runup to next week's midterm election where Democrats are facing losses at the ballot box.

Biden will call out candidates who haven't pledged to accept the results of the Nov. 8 election, saying it is 'un-American.'

The president will speak at 7 pm ET in the Columbus Club in Union Station, a few blocks from the Capitol building - the site of the January 6th insurrection where Donald Trump supporters tried to stop the certification of the 2020 election results.

His remarks come as Democrats fear defeat at the ballot box in the Nov. 8th election. Republicans are favored to win the House. The Senate is more competitive.

It also comes during a climate of heightened political violence. Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul is in the hospital after being attacked by a man who broke into their San Francisco home looking for the speaker.

Biden will remind voters that this is the first election since the January 6th insurrection, according to excerpts of his remarks released by the Democratic National Committee.

'This is also the first national election since the events of January 6th, when an armed, angry mob stormed the U.S. Capitol. I wish I could say the assault on our democracy ended that day. But I cannot,' he will say.

'As I stand here today, there are candidates running for every level of office in America: for Governor, for Congress, for Attorney General, for Secretary of State who won’t commit to accepting the results of the elections they’re in.'

'That is the path to chaos in America. It’s unprecedented. It’s unlawful. And, It is un-American,' he will note. 'As I’ve said before, you can’t love your country only when you win.'

Biden will ask Americans to consider this as they prepare to vote.

'This is no ordinary year,' he will say. 'So, I ask you to think long and hard about the moment we are in.'

'In a typical year, we are not often faced with the question of whether the vote we cast will preserve democracy or put it at risk. But we are this year,' he will say.

The speech is being handled by the political arm of the party and not by the White House.

Several Republican candidates have declined to say whether they would accept the results of their contests.

And Donald Trump continues to spread the false claim he won the 2020 election. Meanwhile, a majority of Republican nominees on the ballot this November for the House, Senate and key statewide offices — 291 in all — have denied or questioned the outcome of the last presidential election, according to a Washington Post analysis.

Union Station, the location of Biden's remarks,  has become a hotbed of crime in the nation's capital, with a Starbucks closing in July over safety concerns and homeless setting up tents outside the entrance.

There was also a shooting outside of the station's Shake
