Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel pledged her party would work with President Joe Biden if they win control of Congress in the midterm elections just two days away.

Speaking to CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, McDaniel also refuted questions about GOP-driven election denialism by referencing times that Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams have also doubted the legitimacy of US races.

Looking ahead to 2024's election, McDaniel refused to say whether Donald Trump is readying to announce his candidacy for the White House - but gave a clear answer when asked whether the RNC would continue footing his many legal bills - more than $2.3 million of which the organization has paid so far.

'We cannot pay legal bills for any candidate that's announced,' McDaniel said. 'So these are bills that came from the Letitia James lawsuit that started while he was president. It was voted on by our executive committee for our former president that this was a politically motivated investigation. And that's what it's been for.'

However she suggested Trump would have no issue paying them himself, adding: 'Right now, he's the former president who's being attacked from every which way with lawsuits. And he's certainly raised more into the RNC than we have spent on these bills.'

It comes as Democrats' abortion rights-driven surge of momentum appears to have dissipated, with polls suggesting that most voters' primary concern is the economy.

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel expressed confidence in her party taking back the House of Representatives and the Senate in the midterms on Tuesday

The most recent RealClearPolitics analysis says the GOP is expected to have at least 228 seats after Tuesday's election, while Democrats are likely to win 174.

That means even if they win the races ranked as 34 toss-ups, they'd still fall short of the 218 members needed for a majority.
