The health insurer on Monday revealed the details of nearly 10million customers had been accessed in the major data breach, including information like their name, date of birth, phone number and email addresses. Medibank CEO David Koczkar said after speaking with cybercrime experts the company had decided not to pay the criminals responsible any ransom money. 'Based on the extensive advice we have received from cybercrime experts we believe there is only a limited chance paying a ransom would ensure the return of our customers' data and prevent it from being published,' he said. Medibank has refused to pay a ransom to the mysterious hackers who stole the private information of 9.7million of their customers last month (pictured, a Medibank in Sydney) Medibank also revealed the health claim data of 160,000 customers had been accessed in the data breach.
