Angela Rayner has revealed that she took out a £5,600 bank loan for a ‘boob job’ after losing so much weight that her breasts were left looking like ‘two boiled eggs in socks’.

Labour’s deputy leader, 42, said she treated herself to the cosmetic surgery on her 30th birthday as a reward for losing weight.

In a candid interview, she opened up about her dislike of jogging as a form of exercise, before adding: ‘I had my boob job on my 30th birthday, I’d lost six stone thanks to my personal trainer, but my boobs just looked like two boiled eggs in socks.’

She added: ‘You know, like basset hound ears. You can’t be 30 and have a chest like an 84-year-old granny. I had spent about 14 months losing my baby weight. I was 17 stone after I had my children.’

Mrs Rayner, a Mancunian, grew up on a council estate and became a mother at 16, making her a rarity in the House of Commons.
