A shattered young mum has recalled her son's final moments after he was mauled by two dogs and says the last harrowing image she has of him will stay with her forever.

Jyedon Pollard, two, was tragically killed when he was attacked by a Rottweiler and a cattle dog owned by motel staff at Cowra's Country Gardens Motor Inn in the NSW central-west a week ago.

Takisha 'Kesha' Pollard had arrived one day earlier with son Jyedon and her two daughters to stay at the hotel temporarily while waiting for permanent housing.

The children had been happily riding their scooters at the motel when their mum went inside to get one of them a drink.

Ms Pollard never forget the moment of realising her son was missing before seeing the motel manager running towards her with a critically injured Jyedon in his arms as he screamed for an ambulance.

'Jyedon wasn't moving, he wasn't making a sound. His pupils were dilated. My son was silent, I knew it was bad,' Ms Pollard told The Daily Telegraph.

'I was yelling 'Where's Jyedon, where's Jyedon?'

'Jyedon was silent... all these people saying there was a kid screaming, there was no screaming. My son was silent.'

She insists she thought her kids would be safe when she went inside for a few minutes after one of Jyedon's sisters asked for a drink.

It's understood during that time, Jyedon made his way into an enclosed area where the dogs were kept at the side of the motel, a claim relatives have disputed.

Ms Pollard is angry housing officials placed her family there without checking to see if any dogs were at the site.

'Wherever the dogs were, it can't have been that safe if a two-year-old could get in.'

She's now focused on giving Jyedon the 'best send-off ever as she remembered her son as the happiest, most beautiful child.
