A nationwide recall has been issued on numerous poppy seed products after several people were admitted to hospitals for poisonings across the country.
One person suffered a heart attack while two others were placed in intensive care.
There have been more than 20 people who have presented to the hospital as a result of toxic contamination.
Others have reported suffering from tachycardia, hypertension, seizures and acute kidney injury.
Poppy seeds recalled include East West Foods Wholesale poppy seeds, Gaganis Premium Australian poppy seeds and Hoyts poppy seeds.
Most cases of poisonings have been as a result of home-brewed poppy seed tea.
Poppy seeds are also found in foods such as cakes, pastries and porridge.
