Wednesday 23 November 2022 01:44 AM Disgraced Todd and Julie Chrisley vow to APPEAL their jail sentences for $30M ... trends now
Todd and Julie Chrisley have said they plan to fight back and allege the government lied about their tax payments just a day after being sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison for fraud and tax evasion, respectively.
The Chrisleys, through a spokesperson for their attorneys, told DailyMail.com in a statement that they will appeal the decision after the 'Chrisley Knows Best' stars were handed harsh terms in a court in Atlanta, where prosecutors argued that they 'swindled' banks out of $30million in loans then avoided paying taxes for years - even after declaring bankruptcy.
Attorney Alex Little claimed that the trial was completely flawed and that their faith will 'give them strength' as they try to fight the case before they must report for sentencing on January 1.
While they didn't address past accusations that the case is based off complaints from a disgruntled employee, they did accuse the government of deceiving the jury over the tax fraud allegations.
The statement reads: 'Yesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family. But Todd and Julie are people of faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions. Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid. Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.'
