Friday 25 November 2022 06:59 PM Criminals who broke into home and fled on stolen motorbike SUE father who ... trends now A father-of-two who took the law into his own hands by running the criminals who targeted his home off the road was jailed - while the pair avoided a prison sentence. The two men are now suing electrician Adam White, 34, after he sped after them in his Mercedes 4x4 as they tried to evade him following the attempted burglary in Leighton Buzzard, Beds, in September 2019. They had been armed with a crowbar and bolt cutters when they attempted the burglary, targeting Mr White's home where he was with his wife Lindsay, 34, and their two children, aged 10 and eight. The would-be burglars sustained serious injuries after being thrown from the stolen motorbike, including a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and broken bones. They are now suing Mr White's car insurers for £1million, his wife has said. Ryan Paul, 25, who was given a suspended sentence along with Taylor Benford for attempted burglary Mr White was jailed in February for 22 months at Luton Crown Court for causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Taylor Benford and Ryan Paul, both 25, were given suspended sentences and 200 hours community service at the same court for the attempted burglary in Leighton Buzzard, Beds, in September 2019. The pair have a raft of previous convictions for offences such as possession of an offensive weapon, theft, dangerous driving, criminal damage, shoplifting and drug dealing. Minutes after the collision, police received a 999 call reporting a devastating crash involving Mr White's car and the getaway bike. In police body-worn footage, Mr White, who had no convictions before the incident, asks the officer arresting him: 'Am I in trouble? I'm not going to prison for this am I?' The controversial case features in Two Wrongs, the latest episode of 24 Hours In Police Custody, which aired last night on Channel 4. Mr White was jailed in February for 22 months at Luton Crown Court for causing serious injury by dangerous driving Mr White said before he was jailed: 'That night is like a recurring nightmare, it still hasn't ended. I still consider myself a victim. 'I feel like I've been treated like a criminal and it's not me. I feel bad these guys got hurt but I don't believe it was my fault. I did not cause it. 'Community, family and friends, work colleagues are all completely sympathetic. They all said they probably would have done the same thing as me. 'If someone's a criminal and they keep repeating their crime whatever they're doing, whether it be theft or hurting people, they should get punished for it. 'I do think the system's quite soft and there's no deterrent, they just carry on reoffending and what can you do? There's nothing you can do.' Mr White and his wife spent £50,000 on Adam's legal fees and he lost his job, the Mirror reports. His wife Lindsay also says she had to have an abortion when he lost his job, as they could not afford to have another child due to the loss of income. She said: 'It took everything, including our child and they [Mr Paul and Mr Benford] will get a payout.' 'I think they do it because they can, maybe they don't want to work, maybe they just want to steal their way through life. If Adam hadn't gone out, I believe nothing would have happened, they wouldn't have been caught.' All rights reserved for this news site (dailymail) and under his responsibility
