A 10-year-old Milwaukee boy has been charged with murder for allegedly shooting his mother point blank from three feet away after she refused to buy him a VR headset.

The boy, whose name has not been publicly released, fatally shot his mother Quiana Mann, 44, of Milwaukee, in the face inside their home on 87th Street near Hemlock around 7am on November 21 because she refused to buy him an Oculus Virtual Reality Headset - which ranges from $130 to nearly $500 on Amazon.

The next day, he went on his mother's Amazon account and bought the headset himself, before telling his grandma he was 'sorry' for killing his mother and asking where his Amazon package was.

His family has since said he had 'rage issues' and heard five imaginary people.

The boy initially told police that the shooting was an accident and that Mann had 'walked' in front of him when he was aiming at the wall to 'scare her' and accidentally shot her in the head, according to criminal charges obtained by the Journal Sentinel

He later said in a second interview, however, that he intentionally aimed at his mother before shooting her. The boy is one of Mann's four children: Brianna, TJ, Brandon, and Noah. It is unclear which boy shot her.

After the early morning shooting, he then put the gun in the closet and told his older sister Brianna Moore, 26, that mother, who worked in behavioral health, was dead, the complaint read. Moore then called 911.

He will be tried as an adult and was charged last week with first-degree reckless homicide.

Wisconsin law requires children as young as 10 to be charged as adults for certain serious crimes, though the boy's attorneys can seek to move the case to juvenile court.

He is being held in juvenile detention.

According to the complaint, the boy initially told officers he got the gun from his mother's bedroom and went to the basement where she was doing laundry. He said he was twirling the gun around his finger when it went off.

The boy was allowed to stay with family, and an initial release from police said the shooting was caused by a child 'playing' with a gun. A day later, concerned relatives called the police.

The boy's aunt said that when she picked up the
