A female teacher who drank red wine from a Greggs coffee cup, took a boy's clothes to wear herself and rode a pupil's bike on school premises has been banned from the profession.

Michela Hall, 42, worked at the specialist Lincoln House School, a care home for boys aged 11-18 who had been victims or perpetrators of sexual offences, in Burnley, Lancashire, from May to September 2019.

A disciplinary panel at the Teaching Regulation Authority (TRA) heard on July 3, 2019, Ms Hall was seen drinking from a Gregg's coffee cup which smelled of alcohol.

The panel saw photographs taken by a witness of empty wine bottles and the coffee cup containing 'the remains of red liquid'.

They also heard that on the same afternoon Ms Hall locked herself in a room with a pupil before pulling at their clothing. She was later seen 'strolling around with them on'.

Ms Hall, a teacher for over 20 years, even got on one of the pupil's bikes but appeared 'too unsteady' and intoxicated to ride it.

She was asked to leave the school premises but refused to do so. She later admitted being intoxicated insisting it was 'one stupid mistake'.

After a hearing last month, the panel deemed Ms Hall was intoxicated and acted inappropriately. They found her conduct 'fell significantly short of the standards expected'.

Ms Hall failed to attend the hearing on November 9 and was not represented by a solicitor in her absence. She was issued a teaching ban with a review period after two years.

The panel heard how during her four months at the school 'there had been concerns regarding professional boundaries between Ms Hall and Pupil A' but she ignored the concerns when they were raised with her.

The TRA panel's report, published this week, stated that the school and the care home were on the same grounds but on July 3, 2019, Witness A explained that Ms Hall should have finished work at 4.30pm.

That evening, from around 7.15pm, Witness A received several calls from Ms Hall who was still at the school saying 'the boys were kicking off'.

The panel explained: 'Witness A was not happy that Ms Hall had stayed late working and advised her to go home.

'Witness B told the panel when she returned to the home that evening, she was surprised to see Ms Hall's car in the car park.

'Witness A told the panel that when she attended the school premises on 3 July 2019, she saw Ms Hall drinking from a Gregg's coffee cup.

'Witness A said that it smelled like alcohol. When she asked Ms Hall if she had been drinking, Ms Hall denied this. However, Witness A stated that she could smell alcohol on Ms Hall.

'Witness A stated that later in the evening, she took a photograph of
